Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the landslides in Asakita-ku and Asaminami-ku of Hiroshima on the morning of Aug. 20th.
It is encouraging to us that some I-House residents have come to the Administration Office to express their condolences for the lives lost in the disaster. They even offered helping hands to assist in the recovery efforts.
Actually, we all feel like rushing to the scene of the disaster and offer whatever help we can. At the moment, however, participation of volunteering activities to help the clean-up of the sites seems quite difficult. It has been reported that hundreds of people from all over Hiroshima show up at registration sites every morning while the number of volunteers required are limited. Each volunteer registration office closes registration once they reach the daily quota. Besides, these areas are still dangerous and they have to halt the registration process once the evacuation advisory is issued.
We appreciate all the residents for showing their love for our community. For your information, you can support Hiroshima by donating to Red Cross through major banks.
